Cookie Policy

Updated 5 October 2026. Perma keeps cookie use deliberately limited. A cookie is a small value stored by a browser so a site can remember a setting or maintain a session.

This page explains the categories that may appear on Perma, their purpose, typical lifespan, and the choices available to a visitor. Cookie names and durations can change when the hosting configuration changes; material changes will be recorded in a dated revision.

1. Essential operation

A session cookie may be used when a hosting feature requires continuity. It normally expires when the browser session ends and is not used to identify a person across unrelated sites.

Where present, an essential session value supports continuity between requests and may use a name generated by the hosting platform. It does not contain a readable training profile. A browser can block it, although a form or interactive feature may then fail to retain state.

2. Choice memory

The local browser value cookieChoice records whether a visitor selected Accept or Reject on this banner. It contains only the choice and remains until the visitor clears site data or changes the preference through browser controls.

The usual lifespan is 180 days from the last setting, unless browser storage is cleared sooner. It is read on the device that stored it and is not intended to identify the person across browsers. A visitor can revisit the preference through browser controls or contact Perma for assistance.

3. Analytics

Perma does not activate optional analytics by default in this publication. If that changes, the policy will name the provider, purpose, data categories, and lifespan before the feature is introduced.

Any future measurement would be configured to support aggregate page performance and editorial planning, not to infer health status. Provider documentation and retention settings would be reviewed before activation. Rejecting optional measurement would not remove access to ordinary articles.

4. Preferences

Future preference cookies will be clearly identified and limited to language, display, or accessibility choices. They will not be used to infer medical status or advertising interests.

A preference value could remain for up to 12 months when a visitor asks the site to remember it. Such a value should contain a setting rather than the underlying personal information. Clearing site data may return the page to its default presentation.

5. Browser controls

Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. Blocking essential cookies may affect a small feature, but ordinary editorial pages should remain readable.

Controls differ between Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and mobile browsers. Private browsing commonly deletes local values when its window closes. Perma cannot control how a browser or operating system handles a stored value.

6. Third parties

Embedded services may set their own cookies only where a page explicitly includes them. Perma reviews embeds for privacy and accessibility before publication.

An embedded video, registration tool, map, or event platform may have its own notice and consent mechanism. Visitors should read that provider’s explanation before interacting with the embed. Perma does not treat a third party’s cookie as a Perma advertising profile.

7. Consent

Optional cookies require a clear affirmative choice where applicable. Rejecting them does not reduce access to ordinary editorial material.

A choice is recorded only to the extent needed to remember the response. Withdrawing an optional choice does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, but it prevents the relevant optional feature from being used going forward. Consent questions can be sent to the contact details below.

8. Retention

Local choice data has no fixed server retention because it is stored by the browser. Server security logs are normally retained for 90 days.

The cookieChoice value is normally set for 180 days, session values expire at session end, and any future preference value will state its lifespan here. Server backups may retain configuration information for up to 35 days under ordinary rotation. These periods are reviewed when the feature changes.

9. Updates

Cookie changes will be listed with a date and a short explanation. This page was updated 5 October 2026 and is scheduled for review on 5 January 2027.

At the 5 October 2026 review, the intended cookie inventory consisted of the essential session value, the local cookieChoice preference, and no optional analytics cookie enabled by default. A session value normally lasts until the browser closes. cookieChoice is ordinarily retained for 180 days from the last preference update. If a future provider introduces a measurement or embedded-media cookie, Perma will identify its name, provider, purpose, category, and expected lifespan before relying on it for optional functionality.

Visitors can inspect, delete, or block cookies through the privacy settings and storage controls in their browser. Blocking an essential session value may affect continuity between pages or prevent a form from retaining state, while blocking cookieChoice may cause the preference prompt to appear again. Browser controls apply per device and browser, so a choice made on a phone does not automatically apply to a laptop. Deleting site data also removes the stored preference.

Some hosting, security, or embedded services may set technical values under their own domains when their functionality is requested. Those values are controlled by the relevant provider and are not treated by Perma as a publication-wide reader profile. Questions about cookies, consent, or a suspected tracking issue may be sent to Jalan Sudirman Kav. 22, Karet Semanggi, Setiabudi, Jakarta Selatan, DKI Jakarta 12930 or +62 813 5792 4680, with an acknowledgement normally sent within five business days.

Cookie categories and examples

Essential storage supports the basic operation of the site, including keeping a page state while a visitor moves through a form or records a cookie choice. The session value normally expires when the browser is closed. The preference value named cookieChoice is normally retained for 180 days and records whether the visitor selected acceptance or rejection. It does not contain a name, phone number, or article history.

Perma does not enable optional analytics by default. If measurement is introduced later, the notice will identify the provider, the purpose, the data categories, the retention period, and the method for withdrawing consent. An embedded service may set its own technical storage when a visitor activates that service; the third party controls its domain and terms.

Controls, consent, and questions

Visitors can delete or block storage through browser settings. A block may cause the preference prompt to return or may affect form continuity, but it does not prevent access to ordinary editorial pages. Controls apply per browser and device, so a setting on a phone does not automatically apply to a laptop.

Cookie questions can be sent to Jalan Sudirman Kav. 22, Karet Semanggi, Setiabudi, Jakarta Selatan, DKI Jakarta 12930 or +62 813 5792 4680. Perma aims to acknowledge correspondence within five business days and review a material consent concern within 30 calendar days. This policy was reviewed on 5 October 2026 and will be reviewed on 5 January 2027.

  • Use the browser control panel to inspect stored values.
  • Clear site data when a previous choice should be removed.
  • Contact Perma when a disclosed cookie does not match the page behaviour.
